Custom Skin Treatments

Your skin deserves treatments that are made specifically for it. After all the work it does to regulate body temperature, make vitamin D, prevent dehydration and protect your body from harmful pathogens and UV radiation, it could use a little TLC of its own!

At May Plastic Surgery, Dr. Brian May has nonsurgical treatments he can use to boost the health of your skin while also helping it glow. Erbium laser resurfacing does this through light energy. In the hands of the right doctor, it can renew your skin and make it ready for whatever comes next.

What Is Erbium Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Erbium lasers are similar to traditional CO2 lasers in that they use light energy. But they are attracted to the water in your skin instead of the pigment, so they can refresh the skin without damaging it.

During laser resurfacing, the laser removes all of the damaged skin cells from the surface of the skin and gently heats the tissue underneath. You get to see refreshed skin soon after the treatment, with even more tightening and rejuvenation as the skin produces extra collagen because of the laser.

My goal is simple. I combine surgical precision with genuine, personalized care so every patient not only looks their best but feels seen, heard, and confident in their transformation.

The Art & Science of Aesthetic Treatments With Dr. May

Dr. May trained as a surgeon, and surgery will always be at the core of what he does. But his engineering background taught him something that applies just as much in the treatment room as it does in the OR: the best solution isn't always the most complex one. It's the right one. When a patient's goals can be met with a well-chosen nonsurgical treatment, that's not a lesser path. It's good judgment, and it's exactly the kind of guidance patients at May Plastic Surgery have come to expect.

For Dr. May and his team, med spa treatments are part of a comprehensive approach to aesthetic care, one that considers skin quality, structure and maintenance all at once. Sometimes that means surgery. Sometimes it means Sculptra or a carefully timed series of peels. Often, it means a thoughtful combination, planned around your goals and lifestyle.

“I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach and tailor every aspect of the procedure.”

Procedure Details

Once you’re in the office, it’s time to start the treatment! There will be a few steps to keep you safe and comfortable, like protecting your eyes and putting on a topical numbing cream. Dr. May will leave this on for 20-30 minutes so it can take effect while he customizes the laser settings for you. Each area will have a different treatment strategy: forehead, cheeks, jawline and nose; each responds best to different depths of treatment.

If you’ve ever snapped a rubber band against your skin, you’ll have a good idea of what laser treatments can feel like. The numbing cream will make this more comfortable. Dr. Max will check in with you to make sure you are tolerating the treatment well.

Content Management Systems (CMS) are essential tools for managing digital content. They allow users to create, edit, and publish content without needing extensive technical knowledge. A CMS streamlines the process of website management, making it accessible to a broader audience.
Using a Content Management System offers numerous advantages. It simplifies content creation, enhances collaboration among team members, and provides tools for SEO optimization. Additionally, a CMS can improve website security and ensure that content is consistently updated.
Selecting the appropriate CMS is crucial for your project's success. Factors to consider include ease of use, scalability, and the availability of plugins or extensions. Popular options include WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal, each catering to different user needs.
Ensuring the security of your CMS is vital. Regular updates, strong passwords, and user access controls are essential practices. Additionally, consider implementing security plugins and conducting regular backups to protect your content.
To maximize the effectiveness of your CMS, content optimization is key. This includes using relevant keywords, structuring content with headings, and incorporating multimedia elements. Well-optimized content improves user engagement and search engine rankings.
The landscape of content management is evolving rapidly. Emerging technologies like AI and machine learning are shaping the future of CMS, enabling more personalized user experiences and automating content management tasks.
Many businesses leverage CMS platforms for e-commerce. These systems provide tools for product management, payment processing, and customer engagement. Popular e-commerce CMS options include Shopify and WooCommerce.
Social media integration is essential for modern content strategies. Many CMS platforms offer plugins that allow seamless sharing of content across social media channels, enhancing visibility and engagement.
Staying updated with CMS trends is crucial for content creators. Key trends include headless CMS, increased focus on user experience, and the rise of no-code solutions, which empower users to create without programming knowledge.
To evaluate the effectiveness of your CMS, track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as user engagement, content reach, and conversion rates. Analyzing these metrics helps refine your content strategy and improve overall performance.

What can I expect at my consultation?

The first consultation is a genuine, thoughtful conversation. We want the experience to feel comforting and non-clinical while still meeting all the medical needs of our patients. We’ll talk in-depth about your goals, concerns and medical history, and I’ll perform a physical exam to help determine the best treatment options. I like to think that my approach is honest and educational. I want patients to leave feeling informed, not pressured. You’ll receive a customized plan and have plenty of time to ask questions. This is your space to explore what’s right for you. We’ll also make sure to discuss skincare and how to properly prepare for treatment, as well as how to take care of your skin afterward to ensure the best results possible.

How do you choose the right laser depth for each patient?

To me, skin resurfacing is just one piece of a much bigger strategy. I often use it alongside microneedling and chemical peels, and I make sure my patients have a good skincare routine at home. The depth of laser treatments all depends on your skin type and how much recovery time you can accommodate. We’ll talk through your options honestly, and I’ll recommend what I believe will give you the best results with the safest treatment.

How can I be sure my results will look natural and not overdone?

Through meticulous planning, customization and execution. I use the latest techniques and maintain a relentless commitment to continuous learning. I also set realistic expectations and follow patients closely during their recovery to ensure optimal results. It is my opinion that some plastic surgeons will simply do the procedure a patient asks for because their friend had it or because they read about it. I offer options and have in-depth conversations about the pros and cons of those options. If a patient’s goals do not align with what I feel is a safe or appropriate treatment, I am more than comfortable telling them no or that I’m not their surgeon.
