Subtle Breast Refinements

What Is a Breast Procedure?

Our breast procedures are a range of surgical options that adjust the shape and contour of the breast. Treatments beyond breast lift and augmentation focus on more specific details that can affect your comfort and symmetry or even impact the function of your breasts. Dr. May can operate on the areola and the nipple, along with the tissue surrounding the breast.

My goal is simple. I combine surgical precision with genuine, personalized care so every patient not only looks their best but feels seen, heard, and confident in their transformation.

The Art & Science of Breast Surgery With Dr. May

Dr. May recognizes the real experiences that bring patients to his consultation room. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations and the natural aging process all leave their mark on the breasts, affecting how you feel in your clothes, at the beach or in intimate moments. His approach to breast surgery helps you regain your confidence with beautiful results that enhance your natural contours, with an emphasis on restoring proportion and balance.

Dr. May's breast surgery experience spans the full range of procedures, from breast lifts and reductions to augmentations and revisions. He performs each with the same level of detail and precision his patients have come to expect, delivering results that look and feel natural. His thoughtful approach gives you the time, space and guidance to make decisions that are right for your body, helping you feel confident in your choices throughout the entire process.

“I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach and tailor every aspect of the procedure.”

- Dr. Brian May

Procedure Details

The exact approach Dr. Brian May will use depends on which procedure or combination of procedures is being done. He plans every procedure meticulously and always stays at the forefront of new techniques to give you the best results. He will consider everything, including your anatomy and long-term considerations, plus the shape and proportion that you want.

Areola reduction is usually performed alongside a breast lift or reduction. It can be done alone, but there are limits to how much the areola can be reduced without affecting the contour of the breast. During nipple reduction, Dr. May can reduce both the diameter and projection of the nipple, and will choose the technique that gives you the best results based on your situation.

If you have an inverted nipple that you want to correct, Dr. May will make a small incision at the base of your nipple to release the tight bands that pull it inward. Bra roll liposuction is another procedure that is usually paired with other surgeries, often broader liposuction or breast surgery. Removing fat in this area can smooth the upper body and help create a narrower breast shape for those with breast tissue that extends onto the chest wall.

What can I expect at my consultation?

The first consultation is a genuine, thoughtful conversation. We want the experience to feel comforting and non-clinical while still meeting all the medical needs of our patients. We’ll talk in-depth about your goals, concerns and medical history, and I’ll perform a physical exam to help determine the best treatment options. I like to think that my approach is honest and educational. I want patients to leave feeling informed, not pressured. You’ll receive a customized plan and have plenty of time to ask questions. This is your space to explore what’s right for you. We’ll also make sure to discuss skincare and how to properly prepare for surgery, as well as how to take care of your skin after surgery to ensure the best results possible.

Why is technique especially important for smaller breast procedures?

When working in areas like the nipple or areola, surgeons are operating around delicate structures that serve both cosmetic and functional purposes. I work with patients who want to maintain or even improve their ability to breastfeed, and there is no room for error. I take a meticulous and detailed approach to these surgeries and preserve natural structures whenever possible. Each consultation is a chance for me to go over the pros and cons of each option and make recommendations based on what is safest and most appropriate for each patient.

How can I be sure my results will look natural and not overdone?

Through meticulous planning, customization and execution. I use the latest surgical techniques and maintain a relentless commitment to continuous learning. I also set realistic expectations and follow patients closely during their recovery to ensure optimal results. It is my opinion that some plastic surgeons will simply do the procedure a patient asks for because their friend had it or because they read about it. I offer options and have in-depth conversations about the pros and cons of those options. If a patient’s goals do not align with what I feel is a safe or appropriate treatment, I am more than comfortable telling them no or that I’m not their surgeon.
