Daily Care for Better Skin
Your skincare routine doesn’t have to be complicated or contain dozens of products, but it should be carefully crafted to match your skin type. It should also include high-quality ingredients that all work together to make your skin as healthy as possible. At May Plastic Surgery, our team is here to help you find a skincare routine that works for you and gives you healthy, radiant skin.
What Is Medical Grade Skincare?
Medical-grade skincare is based around products that contain high-quality ingredients, at concentrations you won’t find in the drugstore aisle.
Many of these products are available only through licensed medical professionals and contain ingredients like retinoids, topical antioxidants, advanced moisturizers and growth factors. Each formulation goes through rigorous testing and is used under professional guidance. Our team will match you with the right products and help your skin adjust to your new, simplified routine.

What Can Medical Grade Skincare Address?
One of the benefits of using medical-grade products is the ability to home in on specific concerns more effectively. These products can help with many different skin issues, including:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Hyperpigmentation and dark spots
- Acne and acne scarring
- Uneven skin tone and texture
- Sun damage
- Loss of firmness and elasticity
- Dryness or compromised skin barrier
Medical-grade skincare can also help you get the best results from professional treatments. Our team may recommend trying a nonsurgical treatment in the office, like chemical peels or microneedling, to give your skin an extra boost.
The Art & Science of Aesthetic Treatments With Dr. May
Dr. May trained as a surgeon, and surgery will always be at the core of what he does. But his engineering background taught him something that applies just as much in the treatment room as it does in the OR: the best solution isn't always the most complex one. It's the right one. When a patient's goals can be met with a well-chosen nonsurgical treatment, that's not a lesser path. It's good judgment, and it's exactly the kind of guidance patients at May Plastic Surgery have come to expect.
For Dr. May and his team, med spa treatments are part of a comprehensive approach to aesthetic care, one that considers skin quality, structure and maintenance all at once. Sometimes that means surgery. Sometimes it means Sculptra or a carefully timed series of peels. Often, it means a thoughtful combination, planned around your goals and lifestyle.

When you come in for a skincare consultation, our team will evaluate your skin and ask you a few questions about your current routine. Once we have a good understanding of your skin type, goals, and past experiences, we can recommend specific products that match your needs.
Your routine may look very different from another patient's, even if you have similar concerns, but you can expect a fairly simple routine without redundant products. We will also coordinate your skincare with any in-office treatments you may be receiving to help you get the most out of both.

Building Your Routine
Sometimes, starting a new routine can be a delicate process that involves slowly integrating new products and being patient as your skin adjusts. You may need to introduce one product at a time or slowly increase the frequency or strength of certain products. Some products with active ingredients can cause dryness or flaking at first, which is a normal part of the adjustment period. It can take anywhere from six to 12 weeks of regular use to see results, so make sure you are being consistent.
If you have any concerns about how your skin is responding, give us a call. We are here to be a steady part of your journey to healthier skin.
